Professional Farrier Services in Southwest Michigan
Our Story

Dedicated Horse Hoof Care
I will employ the sum of MY training, experience, and ability in the care of your horses' hooves with a focus on maintaining or restoring soundness and enhancing performance. I invest considerable resources
into continuing education and keeping MY practice current with the developing science of Farrier.
I will gladly work with your trainer, vet or other full-time horse care professionals for the good of your horses, and we will suggest that such professionals be consulted when will make every effort to stay on schedule and to arrive
for appointments on time. I book my appointments in the A.M. or P.M. This gives us a better window to work with as far as time. I will call ahead if I'm running behind schedule, and I will give as much notice as possible should I have to cancel.
-
I prefer to observe the horse in motion (walk & trot) prior to starting work (to evaluate way of going, needed corrections/lameness, etc.).
-
If your horse is too energetic, turn-out or lunging before we arrive is recommended.
-
If we are working at feeding time, please feed your horse before we begin.
-
I welcome questions & conversation.
-
If working on a mare with foal, please have the foal restrained (halter & lead rope is fine).
-
I ask you that you maintain a regular trimming schedule. Waiting until your horse is past due for a trim, usually results in severely damaged feet, which reduces the quality of my work.
I am a professional Certified Farrier through the B.W.F.A, this is what I do everyday! I have went to school and learned the latest techniques and continue to educate myself every year! My prices reflect my education.
I received most of my Farrier and Horse training in Florida. I look forward to meeting new clients and their horses. I will take the time with each horse to make sure all four hooves are balanced, and the horse has comfortable experience through out the process. Certified Farriers require more schooling than the non-certified Farriers. A Certified Farrier is held to higher standards and the quality of work is usually reflected in what we do.

Certified Farrier (BWFA)
I have been a Certified Farrier through the B.W.F.A for over 25 years, and have been a Farrier for over 30 years.
I specialize in doing a "Natural Barefoot Trim".
I have studied several Natural Hoof Care Specialist of the years Thomas Teskey, Pete Ramey, Jamie Jackson, Dr. Hiltrud Strasser's andGene Ovnicek. From these experts in the field of Natural Trimming methods. I have taken what I think is the most practical approach to taking care of a Domesticated horse in today's environment.
I have worked also worked with Dr. Rick Redden a leading Equine Podiatrist in the United States. His work is 2nd to none in our industry. We worked on a horse that was getting a 2nd tendononmy.
Dr. Redden was the leading vet that was consulted, I was the lead Farrier. I was instructed by Dr. Redden on how to shoe
this horse for this procedure.
(I worked with him on this horse before I came into my barefoot trimming techniques).
The experience I gained from
talking with him was life learning.
I have the experience to work with the Veterinarian if a horse has special needs like being Foundered, Navicular, or just treating a common Solar Abscess. I have worked side by side with Veterinarians in the past
having to help with administering tranquilizers to wild mustangs
that needed there hooves trimmed.
Being Reliable and Dependable is what you can expect out of me everyday! I spend a good amount of time continuing to educate myself and learn new techniques. I try to keep up with the latest research on Farrier Science. This helps me give the best quality service to each horse.
My slogan is to "Put balance back in to every step".
A sound horse makes every one happy....... Client, Horse, and Me!
I try to have a up beat attitude every day when working with horses. One of the reasons I got into horses was how it made me feel when being around them and playing with them. They really do help take the stress of everyday life away. They make me feel good inside when I'm around them everyday.......Its not just a job to me!!! I love what I do. If I can make a horse more comfortable when I'm done then, I have done my job.
I like to have fun when I work. You will usually see me working with a smile on my face, cracking a joke or just poking fun at myself or YOU!! I try to make my visit to your barn/home a fun pleasant experience.
